The Bacco&Βίβλος (B&β) project started in 2023 with the goal of internationalizing rural villages, particularly those in the Jonic district of Calabria, by establishing a new business model to offer unique and identity-specific tourism services that capture the essence of the Mediterranean mood.
The strategic objectives of the project include:
- Combating depopulation issues that have led to the abandonment of underdeveloped villages in Europe.
- Fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among young local residents, reducing their inclination to relocate to northern Italy or other parts of Europe in search of employment.
- Promoting creativity and digitalization as essential skills among the region’s youth and local governance, in alignment with the 2023 European Year of Skills.
- Initiating a long-term process to provide tourism services throughout the year, making the region a year-round destination.
The B&β project has foreseen 8 laboratories where participants could delve into the true Mediterranean essence by immersing themselves in the pages of captivating books while savoring the local wine and cuisine.
